South Jackson Elementary School

Homework Requirements by Grade and Teacher

Kindergarten

Foster, Fuller, Plunkett, McKown, NeSmith

A monthly homework calendar is sent home each month. Students should complete one assignment each night with the assistance of their parents. Anything that is written should be recorded and sent to school.  Parents should initial the calendar when the assignment has been completed.  It is not required that students complete the assignments on the specific day, but rather when it works best in their schedule as long as it gets done.

Practice their flash cards every night.

After October 15, we will begin guided reading.  On Monday through Thursday, books are sent home with students. Students should read each book twice every night

Hall

Reading: 20-30 minutes EVERY night

Math: most days there will be a math sheet or a couple problems written in the agenda to complete. It is also an expectation that students study and practice multiplication facts for 5-10 minutes EVERY night

Vocabulary: students are given a vocabulary list each week, from their "Tic Tac Toe" choice board, they are expected to complete 3 assignments by Friday (this means one night a week, they are not responsible for vocabulary homework, I recommend that students plan ahead for busy nights i.e. church, soccer games, Boy Scout meetings and leave that night to be homework free)
